A child of the eighties, influenced by the nineties, and a self-declared old soul, Giovanina has been barreling through the music scene gathering influences every step of the way. It was blues for breakfast, lunch and dinner growing up as the youngest of four in her hometown of Plattsburgh, NY. Then she found jazz, hip-hop, folk, soul, funk and the likes in between. She's never stopped listening. And so the inspiration continues to fold in from all directions.
Giovanina has been playing guitar since June of 2001 when she received a 1956 Martin as her high school graduation gift. Singing has been taking shape since she could talk--and thankfully has evolved over time. As a solo performer, her taste is eclectic and her live show varies from gig to gig. Lyrics seem to come more bountifully with age. She is an intimate writer. One who shares personal stories and experiences because writing about the big things just seems, well, too big.
A love for travel and consuming the world at large has led Giovanina all over the place, most recently back from Durango, CO to settle in Burlington, VT. Giovanina released two albums in the course of being back in NY, The Road Home (2012) and A Bit of Alright (2015).
